About Rex

Rex B Valentine was raised on a primitive dairy and beef farm in the upper Wynooche Valley, just North of Montesano, Washington. There was no electricity there yet, so they made their own with an old one cylinder Delco D. C. gas engine and a battery. The county road was graveled; mail was delivered within 1 ½ miles of their home; they had spring water off the hill across the river; heated with wood; milked cows by hand; (no tractor) – all field work done by horses, etc.
Rex’s patient Mother, Dorothy Valentine, taught him to read and write by his 4th birthday, when he wrote his first poem. He learned most of the nursery rhymes and began to write more poems as he studied poetry in school. Taking time out from writing for years while he helped raise 11 children, he began writing poetry again in his sixty’s, and attended international conferences and contests. He was inducted into World Congress of Poets in 2004 because of his poems. Since then he has had six international winning poems, plus many second, third, and fourth place recognitions. Rex is now a Vice President of that organization in charge of the N. W. District of the USA, and served as the guest poet for the meeting in Osaka, Japan in 2014.

Currently Rex and his wife Diane reside on their farm in Elma, Washington.
